Graphics Workshop Members
"Slide Show Follies" -- Having Fun
with ProShow Gold and Producer
MEETING DATE: October 17, 2014

fol·ly
n. pl. fol·lies
follies
(used with a sing. or pl. verb) An elaborate theatrical revue consisting of music, dance, and skits.

The members of the graphics workshop, under the leadership of Bill Silverman, have a really special evening planned for our Oct 17th general meeting.  They will be our guest presenters.  Bill took over the leadership role in Dec. 2008 from Andrea Tarr who had founded the group about 12 years before that time.  The group has grown considerably over the years and has become one of the most popular workshops that BCUG has to offer.  It is hoped that after this general meeting you'll want to join them too.

One of the group's favorite activities is creating slide shows using Photodex's ProShow Gold and the professional level called Producer.  The programs offer great features for getting wonderful results.  Bill Silverman has done a number of presentations for the general meetings.  These have included updates about what is new in ProShow Gold and in Producer, as new and more versatile versions are released.  Bill has a special relationship with Photodex and has been a beta tester for them for many years.

Bill has done a number of presentations for BCUG, as well as for his orchid society, the Monmouth County Master Gardeners, various garden clubs and photography clubs, and the Trenton Computer Festival.  The topics have included "The Allure of Marilyn", "Anamorphic Art", "3D Photography - A History and Modern Applications", "Gardens of the Master Gardeners", "The Philadelphia Flower Show", "Our Creepy, Crawling, Biting, Stinging, and Blood Sucking Neighbors - In 3D", and many more.  In all of these Bill has used ProShow Gold or Producer to create the slide show.  Bill's love of these software programs has been infectious.  Many of our graphics workshop members have also gotten hooked and have produced some wonderful shows.

Bill has a number of goals for this general meeting.  One is to get you interested in trying your hand at creating your own slide show.  You'll be amazed at what you can accomplish.  To prove this, a few of our graphics workshop members will share their results and explain how they get them.  You are sure to be entertained.

A brief introduction to the new features in the latest versions of ProShow Gold 6 and Producer 6 will be shown.  After sitting through all of the above, you will have the opportunity to help the BCUG treasury through a raffle for a boxed copy of Producer 6.  The value of this item is $269.95!  Hopefully you'll be the winner, but if not, you can take advantage of the BCUG "for members only" discount of 20% graciously offered to our club's members.  For a free trial run and to learn more about the software, go to: www.photodex.com.

The Graphics Workshop meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at the SCAN Center in the Monmouth Mall in Eatontown, from 7pm-9pm.  The members are very friendly, enthusiastic, talented, and willing to share with others.  They also have a very extensive graphics library for their members to borrow from, and they even serve refreshments at each meeting.
