"Buying a New Computer
Configuring a machine that is priced right for your needs"
MEETING DATE: February 19, 2016

The process of buying a computer has grown ever more complicated with the proliferation of devices that can do some, if not much, of the tasks a traditional PC can do. So many choices. What’s the right one?

Experienced computer expert Mike Austin will provide answers and guidance as the main speaker at the February BCUG General Meeting. Mike's topic will be: “Buying a New Computer, and configuring a machine that is priced right for your needs.”

Mike will talk about configuring the right machine for your needs. He will talk about laptops, tablets, desktops, all-in-ones, touch and non-touch. He will review the components that will impact the decision process and their impact on the final price.

He will show different pre-built options from different vendors such as Costco and Staples and compare them. He will also show how to order a custom configuration from Dell.

He will share his opinions on different vendors based on his experience purchasing in volume for his business and home clients.

Mike is retired from Spencer Systems, Inc. where he spent almost 40 years providing computer support services to NJ businesses. He was an Authorized Agent for IBM in the 80’s selling and installing System 32, 36, 38 and AS400. After the advent of the PC and networking, he focused on medical practices and small businesses throughout the state. He lives in Fair Haven with his wife Carol 100 yards away from his son Spencer and his 2 grandchildren.

He has presented at BCUG many times in addition to Central NJ MENSA and others.
We hope you join us for a tip-ful evening!
