Description

Learn all about a virtual private network (VPN), which, according to the Wikipedia article on the subject, “...extends a private network across a public network and enables users to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if their computing devices were directly connected to the private network.”

Don’s presentation will address these questions and more:

You can run your own for free if you have the right router, network file server, or even a Raspberry Pi.

There will be detailed information about setting up a VPN on a router with that feature available.

About Don Arrowsmith

Don Arrowsmith is current president of the Philadelphia Area Computer Society.

Don used his first computer in 1961, a Bendix G-15 which had a whole 2KB of rotating drum memory!

He graduated with a BSEE from Lehigh University. He retired from working at a US Navy facility that collected data from aircraft engines via computers.

Don has taught Algebra at two colleges, and is a past APCUG advisor for Region 3. He maintains several websites that he hand-coded in PHP and MySQL.
