You may remember that last year Victor Laurie presented “Windows XP, Now or Later”.   For our October meeting, Vic is back to present safe shopping on the Internet.

The Internet contains the largest and most diverse marketplace that the world has ever seen. Almost anything is available from sources all over the globe and the stores are never closed. Many research facilities are available for checking reviews of the quality and reliability of thousands of items. Search engines can help find what you want from the vast array of goods and services. For a given item, shopping “bots” allow you to compare prices from many sources. Deals and discounts abound.

In spite of all the advantages, many people hesitate to make use of the Internet for shopping because they are not sure that it’s safe. Victor will discuss how to check up on the reliability of merchants and how to protect yourself when shopping. Learn how to protect your privacy, guard against fraud and what to do about undelivered or shoddy merchandise.
