Mike Austin "Windows Vista" |
By Doug Powell |
Mike will demonstrate Microsoft’s new Vista operating system and review many of the new features. He will cover PC requirements and performance issues as well. The system he will bring will be as close to an "all Microsoft" solution as possible using Live One Care, Windows Defender and Windows Media features.
Mike has been in the computer field since 1969 and a computer consultant to small business since 1972. His focus in the 70's and 80's was custom software development before the advent of Quickbooks and Microsoft Office. His company, Spencer Systems, Inc. grew to 12 staff programmers in the mid-80's and most of his work was on IBM mid-range equipment such as System/3, System34/36/38 and AS400.
When PC networks first appeared, he repurposed to support a new environment where he still works. He currently works for 2 medical offices with 10 locations and over 160 computers.
A typical day involves maintenance, evaluation, training, documentation and general advice for staff. Much of the maintenance revolves around viruses, spy ware and good business practices for the use of office equipment. He is also responsible for their network, data movement between offices, digital x-rays, billing systems and Electronic Medical Records.
Mike lives in Fair Haven with his wife Carol.
