Jonathan Klausner "Computer Assistive
Technology |
By Doug Powell |
Our speaker for June is Jonathan Klausner. Jonathan has been involved with computer assistive technology for
individuals with disabilities since 1990. At that time he was Member of Technical Staff at Bell Labs.
He took over Harvey Phillips’ position as the manager of the assistive technology lab at the John L Montgomery care center in Freehold.
It was in 1993 that he opened a business under the name of "Computer Vision and Voice. The purpose of his endeavor was dedicated to enable the disabled to achieve their academic and vocational goals. Jonathan has told me that soon the name will be changed to "More Than
Able".
The technologies he will demonstrate will include speech recognition, body motion sensing devices and screen readers that are designed for individuals with mobility, visual and cognitive impairments.
He has a saying that sums up his work and it is this: "Abilities are never limited by disabilities."
Jonathan's company is located at 60 County Road - Suite K57 in Cliffwood, NJ 07721.
While it may seem that this topic would not apply to each of us who knows when it might. Just in preparing this report I visualized many ways that all of us could be aided in this type of technology. So then lets again show our speaker why we are the largest and, perhaps, the busiest computer club in New Jersey.
See you all on June 15th.
