Steve Walters "Computers and Imaging the Night Sky" |
By Doug Powell |
Something new is on the horizon in July for our speaker is Steve Walters and he will present "Computers and Imaging the Night Sky."
Many amateur astronomers image the night sky using an entirely unattended operation.
This requires complete automation of all the functions with extreme high accuracy.
After capturing the images, they do a great deal of post-processing of the image. During this presentation, you will see
various applications that are used in combination to accomplish these feats of daring digital wizardry.
Besides showing how computers can control telescopes Steve will demonstrate an application he authored and that CCDWare is marketing.
It is called, "CCDNavigator."
To introduce Steve, he has been photographing the night sky for over 25
years. Steve's images have been featured in numerous publications over the years.
He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering, worked for Bell Labs and Telcordia and is a Fellow of the IEEE and Telcordia.
His book, "The New Telephony" chronicles the impact of the Internet on communications.
