"Cinema Technology & the Creative Process"
MEETING DATE: August 19, 2011

The Tools of the Trade- How Technology Helps and Hinders Filmmaking

Andrew Sherwood is a writer-director from the New York Metropolitan Area. He is a graduate of Ithaca College's Roy H. Park School of Communication, with a degree in Cinema and Photography. His films include Cinemetropolis, nominated for Best Editing and Best Picture and winner for Best Writing and Best Original Score at the 2010 Manalapan Independent Film Festival, and DIRTY HANDS which recently screened at the 2011 Garden State Film Festival.

Andrew uses many different tools at all stages of production, from HD video cameras and special dollies at one end to computer software like Final Cut Pro at the other. He'll be speaking about how these technologies can help (Thank-you, Autosave!) and hinder (Curse you, File Corruption!) at all stages of production. He will also talk about how evolving tools and technologies change the creative process, and how they can be used by filmmakers to make better movies.

So, put down your video camera and digital point-and-shoot, and come learn about the art of "film", now upgraded to computer-based video, from a fresh new perspective.
