Brendan Fitzpatrick, The PhotoCenter

All About Digital Photographic Equipment – a Pre-Holiday Update

MEETING DATE: November 15, 2013

Here we are at the beginning of another holiday season. Many of us have taken the first steps toward gift buying, or just considered upgrading their own cameras, to make their picture-taking easier and more creative. In talking to people, I have heard much of the same thing – it’s too complicated; you can’t remember all the steps to get something done; there are so many choices. I haven’t even mentioned that to get good pictures, some editing software is also mandatory.

Even if you are determined to catch up with technology, and have decided on a make and a model of camera for either yourself or some lucky recipient, there is one other consideration. You need a reliable, fair, knowledgeable source. Luckily, we in the local area don’t have to always consult with New York City via B&H or risk dissatisfaction a la Amazon.com or eBay. We have a great resource nearby, in Brick and someone willing and able to help us to navigate the maze of devices and software available to us.

The PhotoCenter has been around for many years. Located in Brick, it has been mentioned at every photographic club or gathering I have been involved in. I am so impressed at its fine reputation and generosity in helping photographers, both amateur and professional, to do their best, that I was pleased when Brendan Fitzgerald agreed to come to our next meeting.

I have asked Brendan to consider us as potential photographic equipment purchasers. I have also asked him to remember to mention some software that has proven useful and user-friendly, in his experience. Surely he will be able to guide us with real-life examples and knowledge. He will describe not only what products he handles, but also some of the services available through the store.

When I say services, there is no room here to describe the vast array listed on their website. There is something for photographers on any level. The staff is earnest and knowledgeable. This talk will be a great introduction to the world of photographic equipment and get us on the road to making better choices.

Come and learn about this interesting topic. Even if you are not interested in buying or shopping, digital technology is highly computer-intensive work, and for that alone, we will have a common goal. I know, as a photographer, how important a good, experienced seller is, and how PhotoCenter not only sells, but offers ongoing support and learning opportunities for us.

Brendan lives locally . He enjoys photography, and helping people buy and use equipment and software . We are looking forward to meeting him and hearing about the PhotoCenter.
